Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University is expected to begin its 2025 online applications in April 2024 and it will close on July 2024 for undergraduate programmes and September 2024 for postgraduate programmes. This estimate is based on the previous opening and closing date of SPU applications.

How to Apply to Sefako Makgatho University
- Visit the SMU application portal
- Complete the application by filling in the required info.
- Write your names the same as they appear in your identity/passport document.
- Specify the names of the first-choice and second-choice degrees (if applicable)
- Complete the residence section (if applicable).
Required Documents
Below are the documents required by Sefako makgatho University to be scanned and uploaded during your online application:
- Certified copy of your ID/passport document (compulsory).
- Certified Grade 11 end of year examination results (for those currently in grade 12) or your National Senior/Matric/IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
- Certified copies of your degree certificate(s) and academic record (if you attended or are currently a student at SMU or another university).
- Certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable).
- Proof of payment of the compulsory and non-refundable application fee of R200.00
Checking Your Application Status
If you are done with your online application, you have to exercise patience so that the Sefako Makgatho University management can access your application. If you have been accepted, or rejected, you will get a message via SMS or E-Mail. On occasions where you haven’t gotten a message after two months, you have to contact the university through the website.
