For a student/applicant to be considered eligible to apply for admission into Gauteng College of Nursing, he/she has to meet the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen, who resides in the Gauteng Province.
- Must have obtained one of the following school leaving certificates: A Senior Certificate (Standard 10), a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12), or National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4
- The following subject criteria are required:
- Senior Certificate English HG D or SG C
- Biology HGD or SG C
- Mathematics HG D or SG C and an M score of 17
- Individuals who are already in the nursing profession (Nursing Auxiliary and Enrolled Nurses) and meet the entry requirements are also invited to apply.
Minimum Entry Requirements for Diploma in Nursing
whether or not you are accepted to study for a diploma in nursing depends on the performance of your Grade 12 final results. Applicants who are currently in grade 12 can apply with grade 11 final results. Performance should look like this, depending on the certificate you hold:

Gauteng Department of Health will offer financial assistance to successful candidates in the form of a bursary. Completion of all processes during the recruitment and selection process does not guarantee final selection for the programme. Once your application is successful, you will be asked to sign an agreement with the Department of Health
