The SASSA R350 grant is now open for application. South African citizens or people who reside in South Africa who are unemployed and in need of financial assistance are encouraged to apply for this grant. The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) was created by SASSA to help unemployed individuals who can’t afford to meet their basic needs.

Eligibility Criteria For the R350 Grant
For you to be deemed eligible for the SASSA R350 grant, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a South African Citizen, a permanent refugee, a permanent resident, an asylum seeker, or a special permit holder
- You must be between 18 and 59 years old
- You must be unemployed
- Your income must not exceed R624 per month (money in your Bank acount)
If you meet these requirements every month, SASSA will continue to pay you the R350 grant every month. This grant will run till March 2024 due to the high number of individuals depending on this grant to survive.

How to Apply Online
- Visit Sassa’s SRD grant website
- Click on the ‘click here to apply on online’ button
- Enter your cell phone number and click ‘send SMS’
- A One Time Pin (OTP) will be sent to the numberyou provided
- Enter the OTP
- Confirm and accept the Clauses in the Declaration and Consent documents
- Enter your personal details
- Provide your cell phone number, employment information and lifestyle sustainability information
- Provide your banking details
- Follow the prompts to complete your application
How to Apply On Whatsapp
- Add Sassa on WhatsApp using this number – 082 046 8553
- Send a message to the number – Careers Portal simply sent “SRD Grant”
- Indicate if you are applying for a grant for yourself (by sending the number 1) or on behalf of someone
else (by sending number 2) - Send a message with your name as it appears on your identity document
- Send a message with your surname as it appears on your Identify document
- Read the terms and conditions and respond “YES” if you accept the terms and conditions
- Indicate whether you are a South African citizen (by sending the number 1) or a Permanent Resident
(by sending the number 2) or a Refugee (by sending the number 3) - Click on the link sent to you in the WhatsApp chat
- Confirm and accept the Clauses in the Declaration and Consent documents
- Enter your ID number
