The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) grant is one of the grants in South Africa that sends funds to its citizens so that they can be able to afford the basic needs of living and it is paid at the beginning of the month.
The grant payment dates for March 2023 have been released by Sassa. three dates have been released; older person grants date, disability grant date, and children/ child support grant.
The older person and disability grants are respectively for old and disabled people who earn little to nothing because of their condition, while the child support grant, as its name states, is one given to low-income households to assist parents with the costs of the basic needs of their child/children.

- Older Person Grants – Thursday, 2 March 2023
- Disability Grants – Friday, 3 March 2023
- Children Grants – Monday, 6 March 2023
There are other grants to be paid like The Foster care grant, Grant in aid, War veterans grant, and the Care dependency grant, but those ones will be paid within the same week of those three above.
There are two methods to collect your Sassa grant payment which are; through ATMs and selected retail stores. These retail stores include:
- Boxer
- Checkers
- Pick ‘n Pay
- Shoprite
- U-save.

According to Sassa, grant receivers do not necessarily need to pick up their monthly Sassa grant payment on the day it was scheduled to be paid. You don’t need to rush to withdraw these funds because they will remain in your account until you decide to spend them, so keep calm.
