How to Apply to Stellenbosch University 2025
To apply online, all candidates must have a working email address. Follow the steps given below:
- Visit the SUN online application portal via www.sun.ac.za and click on ‘Apply Now’ or go to www.student.sun.ac.za/signup/ to apply.
- Once you click on the link above, you will be directed to fill in your biographical information.
- The next step is to purchase the non-refundable application fee of R100 to the Stellenbosch University portal. (applicable to manual applicants only.)
- Follow every step given on the page to purchase the application form online. Thereafter, your reference number (student number) will be sent to the email address you provided.
- Follow all the guidelines on the page and upload the necessary documents needed to apply.
- Clicking the SUBMIT AND PRINT button will submit the form.
- Make sure you provide the correct information before submitting the form. Changes after form submission is not allowed.

Stellenbosch University SUN Application Requirements
Below are the SUN application requirements for the 2025 intake.
For South African Applicants
- Certified copy of your Identification Documents (ID)
- Certified copy of your Grade 12 exam results or
- Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you’re currently doing Grade 12)
- Email address and Phone Number.
For International Applicants
- Certified copy of your Identification Document (ID) of your home country.
- Certified copy of your home country’s Passport Number.
- Study Visa in South Africa.
- English Proficiency.
- Medical Aid.
- Proof of IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programmes.
- Copy of Stellenbosch University English Language Programme Test (If necessary).
Stellenbosch University Application Fees
How much are the SUN application fees for the 2025 intake? South African Applicants are required to pay a mandatory and non-refundable fee of R100 for the processing of admission into Stellenbosch University. This fee is only mandatory for manual applications.
However, the online application is free. This means that South African or International students who choose to apply using the online application via www.sun.ac.za will not pay a dime.
