- Go to the SMU status checker portal – lifestudent.smu.ac.za/pls/prodi41/w99pkg.mi_login
- Select and Enter your ID Number or Passport number (depending on the one you used to register)
- Click Sign In by clicking “submit”
- Then click the “Login” button to view your application status.
SMU Application Status Meanings
- Pending Review: This means that Sefako Makgatho University management has received the application but are still processing your documents.
- Requires Action: This means that the application is not complete. Applicants should revisit their SMU online application tool for updates on Unresolved Items.
- Admitted: This means that you were admitted into the selected programme. Some admissions offers may come with caveats.
- Provisional Admission: This means that you are admitted to a program that has faculty-specific requirements. This program requires you to submit all outstanding To-Do List items as well as complete any other requirements set forth by your instructor.
- Cleared Provisional Admission: This means that all of the admission’s faculty-specific requirements have been met. Admission to the chosen program has now been confirmed in its entirety.
- Ineligible: This means that admission to the specified program has been denied. The bare minimums for admission consideration have not been reached.
- Quota Filled: This means that your admission to the program indicated has been rejected because the programme has admitted the number of the students they need. Despite meeting the program’s basic admission requirements, the application was not successful.
- Canceled: This means that you withdrew your application.
