Unisa Application Requirements
When applying to the University of South Africa (UNISA) online, applicants should make sure that the following Admission Requirements listed below are met. Before applying, please check whether you meet the statutory and college-specific admission requirements. Make sure you qualify for the required academic points score (APS) for your chosen qualifications.
- A Higher certificate requires a minimum APS of 15
- A Diploma with a minimum APS of 18
- A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum APS of 21 or more
UNISA Minimum entry criteria: Year-end school report for Grade 9 or approved equivalent qualification
Required documents
Applicants who want to apply to start a new qualification at UNISA should upload all the required supporting documents below:
- Valid E-mail address
- Valid cellphone number
- A copy of your ID (RSA Applicants) and Passport ID (International Applicants)
- A copy of your School Certificate, i.e. Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate.
- Provide a Sworn translation of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
- A copy of your Marriage Certificate or divorce decree if applicable
- Your official tertiary academic records are necessary.
- Application fee of R125 for application at Unisa which should be paid once you receive your student number.
How to Apply to Unisa
If you are ready to start your Unisa online application process, visit the applications page
- Choose the type of qualification you’re applying for.
- Read the information then click on ‘Start the process’
- Read the information then click on ‘Proceed to ODL and Unisa’
- Select your qualification by college (faculty) or level.
- Click on the circle with the number 4 inside which says ‘Apply for admission’
- Read the information and then click on ‘CLICK HERE to apply online’
- In the first section, click on the bubble next to the qualification you’re studying towards.
- If you already have a student number, click yes. If not, click no.
- Fill in your details and follow the prompts.
- Once you’re done, you’ll need to submit relevant documents.
